September is National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
Pints for Prostates is marking National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month by urging all men 40 years and older to get a prostate health screening and a PSA blood test.
One in six American men will face prostate cancer. Most people do not realize that prostate cancer is 33 percent more common in men than breast cancer is in women. The September observance of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month brings needed focus to the importance of early detection in beating prostate cancer.
Each week in the U.S. more than 4,600 men hear the words, “You have prostate cancer.” These are our fathers, brothers, husbands, sons, friends, colleagues and neighbors. Thanks to early detection and improved treatments, the prostate cancer survival rate has improved significantly in recent years. Still, the Nation Cancer Institute says 33,700 American men will die from the disease in 2011.
Tell the men in your life to get tested, live longer and drink more beer.
