Plainfield, Ill. — Pints for Prostates will be reaching men through the universal language of beer on Aug. 24 in Plainfield, Ill., as part of the Midwest Brewers Fest.
From the organizer’s press release:
We are excited to announce the third annual Midwest Brewers Fest benefitting the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation and Pints for Prostates in downtown Plainfield, Illinois.
Local residents and craft beer enthusiasts have joined together to organize what is becoming the largest craft beer festival in the area. The event will be held on August 24 from 1:00pm until 6:00pm (noon until 6:00pm for our VIPs) on the Riverfront property where Lockport Street/Route 126 intersects with the railroad tracks and the DuPage River. This location is a fitting choice for Illinois’ premier craft beer experience as this is the former site of Illinois’ only early 20th century Electric Park amusement park. Electric Parks (which got their name because they were owned by the early electric power companies) were the ancestors of the modern day fun parks in Gurnee, Illinois and Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
The 100% volunteer driven Midwest Brewers Fest is designed as a craft beer tasting event that will also offer artisanal food from craft beer-centric restaurants. Throughout the day, live original music from local bands will be featured as well as various sports, games of skill and other outdoor activities will be available for our guests. Assorted retail vendors will also be onsite from which attendees may purchase clothing and merchandise catering to the craft beer consumer and home brewer.
Over a century after Electric Park became a destination for area tourists, the Village of Plainfield has embarked on an ambitious plan to once again make the DuPage River a focal point of our growing city. Since 1988, plans have been on the drawing board to enhance Plainfield’s identity as a riverfront community and enable residents to enjoy all of the amenities offered by this natural treasure. The first part of that plan has been realized with the renovation of Lockport Street. The next phase is now underway. The Riverfront Foundation was established by a group of dedicated Village residents and stakeholders, who are working together to ensure that this plan becomes a reality.
The Midwest Brewers Fest has been created as one of the means to help us reach our goal. Tickets are now available for $40 per person if purchased online, $50 if purchased at the gate, and $100 for a limited number of exclusive VIP tickets. Proceeds from ticket sales and food/merchandise vendor space sales will be donated to the Plainfield Riverfront Foundation and the men’s health organization, Pints for Prostates.
As a result of our efforts at our 2012 festival, we were able to donate $30,000 to these deserving organizations.
